Yerba mate is grown among the Araucaria trees, a tree species native to the southern Brazilian state of Paraná. This type of cultivation is called shaded cultivation and, in addition to being extremely advantageous for yerba mate, it allows for more sustainable production, since yerba mate is grown while preserving the Araucaria trees and other native species. In fact, spontaneous vegetation is maintained and controlled only by mowing.

Triunfo does not use chemical products such as fertilizers, herbicides or manure. The production is organic, with a certification seal for several countries. In fact, an organic compound produced by the company itself with residues from the yerba mate processing process is used to nourish the yerba mate plants.

To control pests in herb gardens, Triunfo's technical team uses a practice that has been around for decades: Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The technology seeks to implement several techniques so that pests are fought by their own natural enemies.

For this to happen effectively, there must be a natural balance in the environment. This requires taking care of the soil in chemical, physical and biological aspects, correct fertilization of the crop, recognition and selection of natural enemies and pests, closer monitoring of the insect population, biological technologies, among other precautions.

Triunfo has been using biological control since 2013, when the first commercial products of this type were available on the market.

Since then, the technical team has been perfecting the application of the product. Specific strains of microorganisms are used to combat pests and diseases. This practice promotes biological balance in the environment.
